THURSDAY THOUGHTS - Tamsin's Poem

This week Nick, my son, sent us (among countless photos) a picture of our new granddaughter, Tamsin, buckled into her car seat for her ride home from the hospital.

Like most parents and grandparents, I found myself wondering what opportunities and challenges she will experience now that she is here. Life has changed a lot over the years. The opportunities as well as the challenges are more diverse than when my mother, or even I, was a child. Thankfully, she will have many sources of support and strength to help her celebrate the victories and weather the difficulties that lie ahead of her. As I pondered these thoughts, they came together in the following manner:

TAMSIN’S POEM

 Home from the hospital
Ready to go
What lies ahead of you
None of us know
There will be happiness
Heartache and strife
So buckle up now
For the ride of your life.

 Nervous new parents
To guide you along
Are thrilled and devoted
To them you belong
They’ll guide your footsteps
And teach you with love
While leaning on guidance
From Father above

 Our Heavenly Father
You recently knew
As we work together
Then you’ll teach us too
I’m sure Grandma Joyce
Bid a tearful good bye
As you turned to leave
From your home on high.

 There will be laughter
And worries and fear
But always remember
That Heaven is near
And a family that loves you
From deep down inside
And we’re here to help you
For life’s quite a ride!

Perpetually moving
Life doesn’t stop
But with us behind you
You’ll end up on top
So on with your journey
There’s no place to hide
And buckle up now
For the ride of your life!
